So, last week Gov. Strickland proposed to cut the funding to the library by about 50%. And I did my part contacting the reps and senators and the gov himself. And there were plenty of things that I would have liked to tell Mr.S., but didn't because I have some pretty good self-control. And I know that when you're asking someone to do you a favor, it's better to be positive rather than attacking them or threatening them. - Yes, people threatened him - not cool.
So, here's some of the things I refrained from saying to him for proposing such an action.
1. You want to cut funding by 50%? What if your salary was cut by 50%? Most people wouldn't be able to live on 50%. Oh, but I might lose my job, which means you'll be cutting my salary by 100%.
2. BOOOOO! Shame on you Gov.!
3. Looks like that movie Idiocracy will be coming true after all.
4. So, Gov., I've got some book recommendations from the library catalog for you on budget balancing...oh wait, never mind, the library can't afford those books...or...oh wait, never mind, the library's not open anymore.
5. Hope some of that funding is going to go to the police department, they're gonna need it when kids resort to crime instead of reading.
6. What's that you say? Go buy the book? ... With what money?
7. How can your face be on one of those "READ" posters and yet you dared to propose to cut more money from the library?
8. So, Gov., what's your REAL plan? Get us to want to pay more taxes to support the library (and other programs written in fine print)? Not cool!
9. You're obviously not so poor that you cannot afford a computer and internet to apply for a job, because no one wants paper applications anymore - well maybe that minimum wage job over there...
10. YOU BIG FAT JERKHEAD!!! (...and many other choice words.)

Here's a link to some interesting artwork. Maybe because it's lunchtime that I find this piece to be particularly interesting. (You may need a CML library card to view this).
